Genres & Tropes
This series is a full emotional rollercoaster. It mixes romance, drama, melodrama, and dark romance with a lot of intense tropes:
- childhood friends to lovers
- unrequited love
- toxic relationship
- love–hate dynamic
- rich CEO x poor girl
- second chance romance
- secret child
- jealousy and obsession
- betrayal and misunderstanding
- “I hurt you because I love you” energy
Honestly, it’s messy, dramatic, and addictive in the best (and worst) way.

Short Plot Summary
Alicia has been in love with her best friend Reese for years. But he never sees her as a woman — until one night changes everything. After heartbreak, betrayal, and a huge misunderstanding, Alicia disappears… only to return years later with a secret that could destroy them both.
Now they are forced back into each other’s lives — but love, pain, and power games make everything even more dangerous.
Characters

Alicia Taylor
A soft, insecure girl who starts as a “plain” best friend but grows into a strong woman. Her journey is actually one of the best parts. She learns her worth, but omg… the amount of suffering she goes through is insane.
Actress – Rebecca Schmautz.

Reese Wright
Rich, hot, emotionally unavailable CEO. Classic. He is smart and powerful, but also deeply toxic. He loves Alicia… but keeps hurting her again and again because he can’t accept his feelings.
Actor – Maxx Faganello.

Casey
The villain you LOVE to hate. Beautiful, manipulative, obsessed with Reese. She will literally destroy lives just to keep him.
Actress – Sydney Jean Clarke.

Jackie
Alicia’s son… and the emotional core of the story. His presence raises the stakes so much and makes everything more painful.
Personal Opinion (honest!!)
I was OBSESSED… but also frustrated.
The chemistry between Alicia and Reese? INSANE. Like, every scene is tension, passion, longing. You feel it.
But Reese… oh my god. He is the definition of “I need therapy, not a relationship.” He hurts Alicia so many times that sometimes I just wanted her to walk away and never look back.
Also, the drama is VERY extreme. At some points it feels almost too much — like every bad thing that can happen… happens.
BUT I couldn’t stop watching.
Because underneath all the chaos, there is a real emotional core:
a girl who just wants to be loved, and a man who doesn’t know how to love properly.

Conclusion
“I Hate How Much I Want You” is messy, emotional, toxic, and completely addictive.
If you love:
- intense romance
- broken characters
- painful love stories
- drama that makes you scream at your screen
—you will eat this up.
But be ready: this is not a healthy love story.
It’s the kind that hurts… and that’s exactly why it’s so hard to let go.
