I’m excited because Bloodlust gives sapphic romance the full dramatic vampire treatment. It does not feel like a tiny side romance or background representation. The sapphic tension is the main engine of the story, and that is refreshing.
The best part is the chemistry between Mira and Cassandra. Their scenes are intense, uncomfortable, seductive, and addictive. Cassandra feels like a classic dark vampire love interest, but gender-swapped into a powerful woman, which makes the dynamic feel fresh.
But I also want to be honest: Cassandra’s behavior is very toxic. She crosses lines, uses power over Mira, and treats obedience like a game. For dark romance fans, that may be the appeal. But for viewers who want a softer or healthier love story, this may feel too aggressive. Some scenes are clearly built for shock and provocation, so the series depends a lot on whether the viewer enjoys extreme dark romance tropes.
I also think Mira is the reason the story works. If she were only helpless, the dynamic would feel too one-sided. But she talks back. She resists. She gets scared, but she does not fully surrender her personality. That makes her relationship with Cassandra more interesting.
Conclusion
Bloodlust is a gothic sapphic vampire romance with luxury, danger, jealousy, blood, and a very messy central relationship. It is not gentle. It is not safe. It is full of red flags. But as a dark romance fantasy, it is exciting, dramatic, and very clickable.
